5.2 Earthquake Off Crete

ATHENS, Greece – Seismologists say a moderately strong earthquake with preliminary magnitude 5.2 has struck off the southern Greek island of Crete.

There have been no initial reports of damage or injuries.

The undersea quake occurred at 9:50 a.m. (0750GMT) Monday, some 368 kilometres (230 miles) south-southwest of Athens, according to the Athens Geodynamic Institute.
