Earthquake rattles Cyprus

NICOSIA, Cyprus (AP) — Cypriot authorities say an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 4.4 has shaken the eastern Mediterranean island
nation. No damage or injuries have been reported.

The Cyprus Geological Survey Department says the quake occurred at 5:09 p.m. Wednesday, 6.2 miles off the southern coastal resort of Limassol at a depth of 28.6 miles.

The Department said the quake was felt in Limassol and surrounding mountain villages, as well as by high-rise dwellers in the capital, Nicosia, about 37 miles to the north.
