Strong Earthquake Hits Taiwan

Taipei, Nov. 21 (CNA) An earthquake centered in eastern Taiwan measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale hit Taiwan at 8: 31 p.m. Sunday. There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.

The Central Weather Bureau said the quake’s epicenter was 21.6 kilometers southeast of the Hualien seismic station on the Pacific coast.

The earthquake was felt all around Taiwan, registering a magnitude of 2 in Kaohsiung in southwestern Taiwan and even in Makung in the outlying Penghu County.
