SOME residents of Strikers Village in Point Fortin says they feel like “hostages” in their own homes as a result of the locusts swarming across their community. And officials trying to eradicate the insects appear powerless.
Farmer Kelvin Harper said the locusts were first sighted two months ago but has only increased over time.
He said that the large number has him worried for the safety of his family.
“It’s like thousands of them. They take over the place. This is the first time something like this happening here. They eating all the plants. They coming inside the house. I feel like a hostage inside my own house because if it”, said Harper.
