6.1 Quake Strikes Indonesia

Indonesia’s Central Sulawesi province was rocked by a 6.1 on the Richter scale earthquake on Tuesday. At this time there are no reports of injury or damage.

The quake struck at 9:33 pm local time (1333 GMT) and had an epicenter 88 miles south-east of Poso district and at a depth of 12 miles according to the US Geological SurveyMeteorology and Geophysics Agency.

No tsunami warning was issued.

Indonesia, the world’s largest archipelago nation and is located atop the Pacific Ocean’s “Ring of Fire.” A portion of the Earth’s crust where the continental plates collide causing high volcanic and seismic activity.
