In Asia, News Headlines

At least seven people have been killed in a 100-car pile-up in south-western China.

The incident occurred when a truck crashed into a petrol station on a foggy expressway in Guizhou province.

Visibility was less than 50 metres on the road when the pile-up occurred.

Dozens of cars, trucks and buses failed to see the accident in the fog, and the pile up stretched 20-kilometres down the road.

China’s roads are among the most dangerous in the world, with traffic laws widely flouted.

Almost 70,000 people died in road accidents in 2009, or around 190 fatalities a day, according to police statistics.
