Tornadoes, Wild Storms cause severe damage in Canada, kill 1

TORONTO — Violent storms carrying tornadoes tore across parts of Ontario, killing one person.
There were reports of funnel clouds causing damage in at least three areas.

Several buildings are damaged and trees are strewn throughout the south western Ontario town of Durham after a tornado touchdown. The West Grey Police Services confirms one person was killed in Durham during the storm, but did not provide details.

York Region police said they have reports of injuries after a tornado sighting near Newmarket, north of Toronto, but nothing has been confirmed.
Environment Canada also was reporting a tornado moving eastward north of Toronto through the Vaughan area.

Environment Canada Meteorologist Geoff Coulson said the weather system is headed northeast of Toronto and warned there could be a few potential twisters occurring Thursday evening.
